The Beginning

So I realized even after “restarting” this over, I’m still not posting much at all.  The way school’s working this semester is so strange.  I’m actually working hard on everything and reading about 95% of the assignments which is like a 80% improvement on how I worked previously, but yet I’m still doing horrible on assignments.  I’m not sure if it’s because I feel like school is coming to an end and I’m getting senoritis or something completely different. I do realize though that I cannot keep focus at all on one thing.  I even cut down significantly on the amount I go out, yet I still can’t stay intrigued on school right now.  I feel too preoccupied with what life is going to be like post-graduation.

Speaking of the future, I’ve been doing some SERIOUS reading on personal finance lately.  I’ve read about 4 books on the topic alone, on top of the 3 or 4 blogs I read almost daily and also listen to podcasts.  The thing about it, is that I’m extremely interested in things like this when it comes to my own free time, but in a nutshell, the topics are closely related to what I’m doing in school.  All the reading I do isn’t only about managing all my finances though, it’s actually about “hacking my life.”  I’ve read/listened to so many things that I’m SO glad I’m getting an opportunity to learn about this right before I step out into the real world.  These things include: automating my finances, how to and how important it is to negotiate things in life(especially starting salary), how important free work is(NOT internships), what investing really is about and how to select them(it’s not all about stocks!!!), etc.

I feel so much more mentally prepared to start my life as opposed to how I was in 2009.  It’s funny that the way I found my way into all of this was when I stumbled upon finding the best savings account to do a big purchase.  Now I’m actually not even thinking about that purchase, and am looking to use that money towards investments(Roth IRA $3,000 initial fund.)

That’s more than I think I wrote ever for this, I have a lot more to say, but I think I’ll spread it out a little more
